Cody Wyoming

We have been wandering around for the past several days, heading west and trying to revisit some of the places we have been over the years.
Discovered some new places to stay and were disappointed in some others we have stayed.
We are back at Absaroka Bay in Cody. It is very nice, crowded but very neat and clean. FHU and wifi. WiFi is weak. THis may be due to so many guests getting on at the same time.
Not sure how we want to get to Jackson and the Tetons from here. We came across the Big Horns on 16 thru Ten Sleep and I really don't want to backtrack if there is another safe route. Ideas? We will be here a week or so.

Why not go through Yellowstone? That would be the shortest route by far and ... you'll be in Yellowstone.

If not, you'd have to go south through Wind River Canyon (which is a gorgeous drive) then
work your way farther south and then west to Moran and back down to Jackson.

I'd advise driving through Yellowstone, also. Are you even planning to tour Yellowstone?

For staying in the Teton Nat'l Park you can try to get reservations (perhaps a cancellation) at Colter Bay RV in the Tetons. If not we stay in the dry campgrounds of either Gros Ventre - our favorite and closest to the town of Jackson, or Colter Bay campground right next to the above-mentioned RV park. Gros Ventre has a few electric sites that you might ask for. Both the dry campgrounds have 300 non-reservable sites and we've always gotten a site with our 40' motorhome.

Leave Cody early morning before the crowds hit the Yellowstone roads. You're also more likely to see animals in the morning.

Here's the official national park web site for the Tetons - lots of good information along with a map:
