Connecticut shore to Chincoteague VA route

Heading down the coast in couple weeks from CT shoreline through the city to Chincoteage VA. Looks pretty daunting going through the city(s). Any good suggestions on a route that is the least painful?

There are several ways around NYC area, even heading all the way over to the NE extension of the PA turnpike (I-476) and going south. Once you are at the latitude of say, Philly, here's what I'd do.

1) Del Memorial Bridge
2) I-95 S to DE/7 DE/1 south (just a couple of miles in)
3) DE 1 south past Dover - divided highway, nice ride, $2 or $3 toll
4) South of Dover, follow signs for US 113 SOUTH.
5) Stay on US 113 south until it hooks back up with US 13 in Pokomoke City, MD
6) US 13 South about 8 or 10 miles to VA 175, east to Chinc. Piece of Pie.

Always remember, you're a unique individual - just like the other 7 billion people on the planet...

Jimin has a good route to follow. As an alternative once in NJ get onto I-295 which will parallel the NJ turnpike and it is a toll free road. I also think it has less traffic
