CT to Ellacoya State Park
Heading from middle of CT to Gilford, NH. I would normally go I84 to 93 and up but want to change things up. Wife also wants to stop at Camping World in Chichester. Can someone comment on the following route?
Rt.91 north to Brattleboro. Take Rt.9 east to Concord and then 393 to Chichester. Interested to know what rt.9 is like. Hilly?
Once in Chichester, do I go back to 93 or take rt.106 or rt.28 north.
Have all day to get there but don't want to be climbing hills the whole time. Appreciate any info.
Tim

Havent driven the Molly Stark Trail lately or with my motorhome but I remember it as having quite a few up and down grades with plenty of curves. It'll be slow. RT 2 thru Mass would be quicker but not nearly as scenic. We've hit Ellacoya last 3 yrs in the fall great spot:thumbsup:

We drive NH-9 several times a year in the car, but I probably wouldn't do it in the MH. Too many steep hills for my taste. If you're coming this week, or the coming weekend, 106 is a no-go due to a NASCAR event at the track. You can look online to see the exact times of the traffic restrictions. 28 north to Alton, then 11 to Ellacoya will work fine if the other routes are blocked. One sharp right turn at Alton Bay shouldn't bother you in a 32-footer.

I don't see any published traffic plan yet, but the signs are up already.

Hi from central NH! Rte 9 from Keene to Concord is just fine - we take that road regularly in the 25'er with toad. One brief twisty stretch just outside of Keene - then no issue. 2 lane road, a few truck lanes. Wouldn't be an issue IMHO. 9 becomes 202, then intersects with I-89 (head south) for a couple miles to I-93 north. 393 quickly tapers as it becomes Rte 9 again - as said before, Rte 106 N will be an issue on Sunday, 7/16, as it passes directly in front of NH Motor Speedway, but except for a bit heavier traffic I wouldn't expect any closures, etc. until that day. You certainly could take 28 North to Alton then 11 west to Ellacoya, but that is a bit out of the way. The traffic on 28 and then 11 in Alton might be the worst you encounter. ST

Thanks for all the good info.
Knew about the race but did not think about the traffic. Looks like I93 it is.
Heading home Monday so hopefully will avoid the race traffic.

NH DOT may still have some jersey barriers, etc set until Monday AM in the Concord area on I-93, but traffic shouldn't be too bad overall by then. DON'T try to leave Sunday evening - usually still bad until 10 or 11pm. FYI - if you're coming up I-93, Exit 20, which is what you would take to get to Laconia/Gilford area, has bridge construction and lane changes just before and at the exit. Just watch the signage - stay in the right lane... ST
