Not sure of the best route, but regarding CG in Hot Springs, we really liked Catherine's Landing. The sites are pretty spacious, especially if you can get one on the water, and the roads and pads are paved.

We ere just in Hot Springs a week or so back... stayed at Catherine's Landing ... very nice park... but no shade. I took the time to look at other parks in the area (we live close and will be back several times each year)... were very impressed with Lake Catherine State Park and Lake Ouachita State Park.... with Lake Catherine State Park being our future choice. If you go.... the best RV spots are in the first loop on the right as you drive through the park... newer... landscaped... large spots... level parking. The loops to the left are near the water ae ok... but not as nice as the first loop to the right.

As for a route.... 287 to Amarillo.... I40 to Little Rock ... I30 west to 70 or 270 into Hot Springs... your gps will tell you to cut south on Hwy 7 from I-40 down to Hot Springs... don't do it!!! Nasty... twisty... turny... up and down road.... take the loop around the west side of Little Rock and slide back into Hot Springs.... If you decide to try Lake Catherine State Park... you will want to get off I-30 at exit 97... Hwy 171... this drives straight in to the park.

Have a great trip and be safe.

There are many options on your route in my opinion, all around 900 miles give or take 30 miles. It really depends on what you have already seen and what you would like to see.

Hot Springs is a great place and there are some great places on the way. Some I would encourage you to check out, Kansas City (BBQ, Museums, Royals/Chiefs/Sporting, galleries);

Eureka Springs, AR is a great place to stay and spend a few days as well. Eureka Springs from KC is about 4 hours in motorhome, I enjoy staying at Wanderlust on Passion Play Road. Eureka has many shops, galleries, fantastic restaurants, crafts, outdoor activities (lakes, fishing, canoeing, scenic drives for toads/motorcycling).

KC to Hot Springs is about 7-8 hours, I recently took I-49 (71 Highway) south from KC to AR 270. Highway 71 from Springdale to AR 270 is a scenic drive, but I 540 runs parallel and is also scenic. AR 270 is also a scenic drive.

I would investigate and research how you would prefer to do the trip and head out. Good luck and safe travels.
