Is the I-10w to I-210w to I-5n to 126w to 101n still the best route to take. I plan on leaving at 5am in the morning is this doable?

Go I-10 to PCH and stay on it until it turns into the 101. The 101 north of LA can be a total parking lot until Camarillo. Beside PCH is such beautiful drive.

Your routing is still the best IMO.

PCH is a beautiful drive BUT in a motorhome towing it could be a little nerveracking right now. We just drove it a couple days ago in our car and there is construction from Santa Monica to Temescal Canyon Road. Even without construction, the lanes are always narrow.

We came back from Ventura on 126 last Friday and it is still an easy drive. The CHP enforces speed limits with radar often on this route.

I just reread your post. If you leave at 5 am from Desert Hot Springs you will put yourself into stop & go traffic on the 210w from Glendora until it turns north away from the 134w. I would leave later to avoid this stretch from 6 to 10 am unless you go on a Sunday.

I drive that fairly regularly in a car. If it was me I'd take the 10 to the 210 to the 118 and then the 23 to the 101. The 118 from Moorpark to the 126 isn't too bad either but it's a 2 lane rd and has truck and agricultural traffic at times so it can be slow. The 101 from the 23 in T.O. to Camarillo and even into Ventura can be a bear also. Poor traffic flow and also the Conejo grade gets jammed up at the bottom.

Somebody mentioned the CHP on the 126. They have been patrolling pretty heavily and you really have to watch your speed through Fillmore. The 126 is a fairly scenic drive and the traffic flows smoothly.

As for time, we usually leave PS around 9:30 to 10:00 am and the traffic isn't too bad. It really gets jammed up at the 210 and 605 from the Irwindale area to the 134 with commuter traffic any earlier than that.
