The number 13 post is the best way in.
The suggestion to not enter NYC is sound advice. That is no place for an RV.

The app has you taking some roads in N.J. I would recommend you stay off of only because of traffic and congestion Route 1 & 9 in particular.
Once you cross the GWB (take the upper level) follow the signs for 95 south N.J. Turnpike south. In approximately 3 miles the turnpike will split into the eastern and western Spurs. You want the eastern spur. Follow the signs that say Lincoln Tunnel exit 17. If you screw up and take the wrong one don’t panic because they merge together about 8 miles down the road before your exit.
Take the turnpike to exit 14-14ABC which is the Newark Bay Extension. Follow the signs for 14ABC Holland Tunnel, Bayonne and 78 east. You take this about 4 miles. You’ll hit a toll booth after 4 miles. Pay the toll and get off at the 2nd exit after the toll which is Columbus Drive.
Stay to the right, go thru the first traffic light and the road will curve to the right. Your now on Columbus Drive. Take Columbus Drive 3/4 mile to Marin Blvd (they’ll be a new residence inn hotel on your left). Make the right on Marin and take it almost to the end. Liberty Harbor will be on your right.
It sounds a lot worse than it actually is. The fact that your traveling on a Sunday helps as traffic will be lighter especially in Jersey City.

TJ, I just want to make sure I understand. Where you say that I want the Eastern spur and to follow signs for the Lincoln Tunnel and exit 17, i believe that means that that is how I see to stay on the Eastern spur, that is, i just follow those signs. You do not mean to exit at exit 17 right? I believe that is correct, isn't it?

The N.J. Turnpike (which is 95 in N.J.) is not a bad ride although it is a bit expensive. You’ll be adding unnecessary mileage and traveling the same route the last 10 or so miles. 78 runs into the NJ Turnpike Newark Bay Extension which takes you to exit 14C.
As I’m sure your already aware, don’t travel thru Manhattan. If you have propane you won’t be allowed to travel thru the Lincoln or Holland tunnels.
Worked in and around Jersey City for over 30 years so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Propane is also prohibited on the lower level of the GW Bridge.

When on the Major Deegon expressway, approaching the George Washington Bridge, get in the left lane as soon as you see the trucks doing it. Ignore the signs that say no trucks.
If you wait until your near the bridge, and the sign that says upper level, left lane. You will have a hard time moving over to take the upper level.
Down state NY drivers are the rudest in the country, I know, I'm one of them.
We don't take defensive driving courses, we take offensive driving.

Correct. DO NOT TAKE EXIT 17.
Follow the signs that say to exit 17 and that will put you on the eastern spur. Like I said before if you screw up and take the western spur it’s no big deal. The 2 spurs merge together before the exit you want.

I think I've got it. And while I don't want to get anymore confused (or nervous) I'm hoping the trip back out will be easier since we're going west towards Nashville. Hopefully westward travel with no tunnels or a GWB will be less eventful. I'll update on how it goes, and TJ, you've been so great. Thanks again,

Not meaning to throw a curve into your planning but why do. Why don't you cross over the Hudson River further upstream, like Albany or further north. Then you won;t have to deal with the GW bridge etc. I think it would b e a lot less stressful.

I'm afraid I'm only going with the info I've got, and it was to follow these directions. If i change one part, I'd have to change a lot. And hopefully it being a Sunday morning, it won't be horrible?

You're draining your gray tank onto the ground? Liberty Harbor has a dump station AND showers. Sheeesh.

Don't be nervous. The GWB is actually kind of fun, especially when you're going the free direction.
