Driving Class A RV and Toad to Costa Rica

I know some people have made this trip. But I am wondering if it is practical, safe, roads are passable, diesel fuel available, best time of year, etc. Then when arriving how are the RV parks? Any information would be appreciated.

I looked in the places that I generally look for campground information and they had nothing on Costa Rica ... I did find some information at

Trip Advisor

Maybe that will help you get started.

Sounds awfully risky. Maybe you should take your plane instead.

That would certainly be an adventure. Been to Costa Rica a couple times, but never driven there. It's a beautiful country with varying landscapes. It's the only time I've ever played a round of golf while watching an active volcano. I believe it was called Mt. Arenal.

Thanks for the input everyone. It looks like it certainly isn't one of the more popular trips. I probably will confine our travels no further south than Puerto Vallarta.
As for taking the airplane, been there, done that, never again. I have never been made to jump through so many hoops, or get ripped off for so much ever in my air travels. All the Central American countries have so many regulations they force you to have a "handler" to lead you through the process of checking in and out for a handsome fee.
Too bad it isn't similar to making an Alaskan trip.
