We went to NYC last Sunday to support the establishment of a National Mesothelioma Awareness Day.
My goal was to get in early and park as close as possible to the Today Show at W. 49th St. & Rockerfeller Plaza. We arrived a little before 6 am and actually found a spot on W. 49th St. about 50 yards past Rockerfeller Plaza but after talking to a NBC page and a couple of New York's finest, we decided that it might be a problem so we moved 2 blocks uptown to the intersection of Rockerfeller Plaza and W. 51st Street. Onstreet parking is FREE on Sunday!
We spent a few hours in and out of the RV (the Today Show runs from 8 am to 9 am on Sunday) and then walked to the Times Square area . . . took the subway down to Canal Street for a little shopping and then got out of town in the early afternoon.
It wasn't a weekday or rush hour, but driving in the city was not bad. Some of the roads/bridges were in terrible shape . . . the microwave door actually popped open on it's own one time, never had that happen before!
