Not sure exactly what you are asking but if you are coming from the north you can reach Calistoga either via 101 just south of Cloverdale (Hwy 128) which is a pretty easy drive into the Napa Valley or head north off I80 just past Fairfield, CA on Hwy 12 to Hwy 29. Have not taken 128 out of Winters.

If you stay at the Napa Fairgrounds in Calistoga it is a Passport America park and should be good for up to 4 night for 1/2 off. Full hookups. Enjoy.

Most of the roads are okay except Calistoga Rd between Santa Rosa and Porter Creek Rd / Mark West Springs Rd.

if you are referring to hiway 29 that goes to middleton over the side of mt st helena
i did it won time in a 35 ft gaser and spent most of the time reading my rear licence plate .it is one switch back to another up the side of the mtn. it is very scenic for your passengers and doable but not advisable
