You may be able to move the decal a few times. It is designed with a permanent adhesive and flexing it while pulling it off will break the foil traces (circuit). Yes, you can stick it on lightly and gently pull it off and move it another vehicle. I have done that, but moving multiple times will eventually render it useless and you won't know it until you get a toll violation from the State. Using tape is a possibility, assuming the reader will read it OK.

You could just buy the removable transponder and remember to move it from the MH to the toad when disconnected. It can be a hassle and it is easy to forget to move these back and forth, especially with all the other tasks associated with connecting and disconnecting.

I still think the method of having the decal on the MH and portable on the toad works best for the least amount of hassle. But... you still need a foil bag around the portable when towing.

Keep in mind that the portable transponder can also be used on a rental vehicle if you ever find the need to fly into Florida and rent a vehicle. Just make sure your account is active.

I guess the bottom line boils down to convenience. If you are only planning on a few toll roads, you may not save much money (if any). If you are here a while, travelling several toll roads, or plan to return in later years, it might be worth it to you.

IIRC the $2.50 administrative fee applies monthly for any month that you incur tolls for the toll-by-plate method. That might be worth making a phone call to find out if it is not clear from the website.

Check out Ice3's post. This might be a better option if you are travelling the East coast.
