I guess it was to late to edit the above post, I mentioned the "Florida EZ Pass" I misspoke, I should have said "Florida Sun Pass".

Seems that some Gov't agencies cannot communicate with each other. Sound familiar?

When we received our I-Pass transponder some 5 years ago (similar in size to EZ-Pass), the info sheet specified that in the case of larger, higher vehicles like buses or Class A RVs the transponder should be placed low in the windshield center. Iíve always presumed this is intended to keep all transponders at a similar approximate (optimal?) height above the ground. However, itís clear that a higher mount also works.

As to Govít agencies communicating,..... well, we all know their first priority is the protection of their turf and influence. In the process, of course, the convenience and simplicity of operation for millions of travelers is held of no consequence while the various Statesí Agencies quibble over pennies.

If you have multiple transponders I found that the TX Tag (Sticker w/ RFID) interfered with my Florida Sunpass. At least at the Tampa airport. When I would pull my truck in to the parking garage it would not recognize my Sunpass. I called to make sure there wasn't an issue with my account, no problems there. Narrowed it down to possible interference. Removed the TX Tag with a razor scrapper. Sunpass works every time now.

Florida E-Pass Extra

Has anyone looked at Florida's E-Pass Extra?

https://www.cfxway.com/e-pass-xtra/

Works in all E-Pass states, west to IL and FL. Their FAQ indicates it is moveable from vehicle to vehicle (nice if you tow). Also counts axles, so can be used when using the motorhome and towing a TOAD or when solely using the TOAD. The E-PASS Xtra transponder costs $18.50 plus tax and $10 to activate your E-PASS prepaid toll account. There are no annual contracts or monthly account fees.

Any downside?

Except that it costs more than if you get it through North Carolina where the transponder only cost $7.40 +Tax. Works in all the same States, 18.

NC Quickpass charges a fee if you don't use it and wanted me to get 3 transponders and accounts. One for car, one for motorhome, and get one for both together when towing. Seems to me it was more expensive for the transponder but that was a while back.

Just read the other day that Oklahoma is going to align with the Houston, Austin and other smaller toll agency's in Texas. Jim E. OKC

Stopped looking at the North Carolina pass when reading the FAQ, it indicates it is NOT moveable from vehicle to vehicle.

After several 'no reads' in EZpass states, NC added my toad to the account so that at least the license plate caught on camera would get back to my account.

Iíve had the NC quick pass/ez pass for a year and it has worked flawlessly. It is movable from one vehicle to another as long as you list all the license numbers. You have to get the hard shell quick pass transponder. It is $7.40 with no other fees.
I did get two one for Mh and one for toad, but thatís not necessary as long as you remember to move it from one vehicle to the other. When towing I take the one in the toad and put it in the bag they furnish. Also I originally just got one transponder, but talked to them a few days later and they sent the second one for no charge.
Last Summer we went from Fl. to Me. through NY, Ma, Pa, Ga, In, back to Fl and it never missed a beat, best deal going.

Like he said!
MartyQQ, When I spoke with their customer services they said to move it from vehicle to vehicle and as Rollin101 stated, I also had no problems switching it.

I have had a FL Sunpass for about 12 years. I have had a NH E-Z Pass since 2014. After reading this thread I went to the NH E-Z Pass web site to see where theirs works. FL isn't listed. I thought that interesting. So I will continue to keep my FL Sunpass in my vehicles (as I live in FL) and just swap it out for the NH E-Z Pass when in EZ pass states. At least NH doesn't charge a fee of any sort (I think I did have to purchase it initially).

I have not called them to inquire about moving the single transponder from the motorhome to the TOAD (when it is not being towed). I only read the FAQ on this page.....

https://www.ncquickpass.com/nc-quick...-accounts.aspx

"Can my transponder be used on more than one vehicle?"

Answer --- "No, your NC Quick Pass is not transferable to other vehicles. Each vehicle associated with an account requires its own NC Quick Pass transponder."

Maybe their webpage is out of date??

Agree with Rollin101, with two transponders, there would be no problem. Also, agree with WayneM, I'm sure one could change the vehicle listed on the account (unsure if two vehicles can be listed on a single transponder account).

On that same page under:
"Do I Need To Register All My Vehicles" it states:
"Yes, you must provide NC Quick Pass with information on all vehicles that you will use with your transponder account. Vehicles that are not registered to the account that travel on North Carolina toll roads are not eligible for NC Quick Pass toll discounts and will be charged the full Bill by Mail toll rate."

So my question is if your vehicles are registered does one transponder suffice? I think it does. And, I used it this past Summer this way and have had not abnormal costs associated with the use.

The problem is how they have their web site worded so who can believe what. Also, when you call customer service how does one know they are getting a representative that knows what is going on.

Also, on the web sit it states that if after one year of inactivity there will be a monthly charge of $1. I'm not going back to the East Coast for a while so I'll just bite the bullet on that cost. No biggie.
