Ferry Galveston to Port Bolivar TX

Has anyone taken a Class A motorhome on this ferry? Recommended or not? Looks like it is 2.6 miles across the water.

No problem what so ever - I take my class C all the time pulling a TOAD. I see folks in A's do it all the time. Its a nice ride as well.

Staying in Port Bolivar? We are in the process of buying some property on the peninsula. We love it down there.

Ferry Galveston to Port Bolivar

Thanks for the quick reply. We stayed at the Sandpiper RV park in Galveston and are headed to Gulf Shores, AL. Does the ferry crew place RVs on the ferry considering we are towing and cannot back up, aka pull-thru?

Never a need to backup. They have RV's all day long. Taking the ferry saves a lot of time and you miss the Houston traffic. Also, it is a free ferry!

We've taken the ferry with our 40' MH and the toad. It's a nice pleasant ride and we had dolphin playing next to us.

The Sandpiper is nice but a tad overpriced in the summer. You will not have any issues getting on or off the ferry - just be prepared to turn off all appliances including LP...and that implies remembering to turn them back on at your first stop. I hope you enjoyed your stay - one of our favorite places to visit on the Gulf Coast.
