Well, we got lucky this time. As I said earlier, the CEL had gone out and only the MIL was illuminated. After we got the Freightline facility this morning, I talked to the service agent and he said that all they likely would get done today was a diagnosis and if any action was needed, it would have to wait until next week. He also said that if the CEL had gone out, he agreed with me that the problem had likely self corrected and perhaps we would be better off to just continue our trip as planned. He also mentioned that he personally had never heard of this model Cummins motor and doubted that the service techs had much if any experience with it.

That was all it took for us to make a decision and we loaded food and pets back in the coach, hooked up the toad and left. And no sooner than I started the motor to back out of the service line, the MIL went out!

So we lost a day and few bucks but all told we're happy. I will order a spare injector assembly to take on future trips.

If you need it, there's a Cummins shop in Gainesville, Ga., Augusta, Ga., Atlanta south Savannah, Ga. and Columbia Sc. Another great shop is W.W. Williams in Atlanta south, Savannah and Columbia Sc.. A good local shop in Cleveland is Cleveland Diesel.

In my experience Freightliner shops are fairly useless.

Good to know. I think before we take off again, we'll have list of all Cummins shops with phone numbers.
