What is the best route? One suggestion is go I-75, however I don't particulary want to go thru Atlanta. The other is I 95 and 26 to Knoxville and 40 over to 75. The other is 95 up and through West Va. Any body that travels this in a motor home or trailer your thoughts please.

Hi Jim,
You covered all the most convenient choices in your OP. Without going way, way out of the way there is an alternative. Consider
1. I75 North to I10.
2. I10 West to exit 130 (Route 231 North)
3. Rt 231 North (four lane highway, but not limitted access) to Montgomery, Alabama.
4. I 65 North to Indianapolis, Indiana
5. I69 North to Michigan

My experience with this route is as far Norht as Indianapolis. I like this route because it takes the traveler through Nashville. One can not go through Nashville without seeing a show at the Grand Ole Opry.

Just got back from Beverly Beach,Fla.(just above Daytona) Took I-95 to I-16 to I-75 back home to Atlanta. Why? I-10 to I-75 in north Fla/south Ga is very dangerous now because of very-very-very dense smoke. We experienced probably the worst nightmare of our RV ing on 5/12 and the situation has NOT changed as of today. Literally could not read what was on the road signs right beside the coach at 10am. The smoke blocked the sun completely and is at ground level. The DOT continues to close both sections of I-10- and I-75 at the Ga-Fla line. BEE WARNED!

BTW,I-285 circles Atlanta - there is no need to stay on I-75 thru town.

I prefer I 75.
It seems to be the most direct and easiest.
I think if you can go through Atlanta near mid day it's not as bad.

Stay away from Indianapolis. There is major highway construction everywhere this summer. And of course, I69 from I465 is a parking lot every morning and afternoon with work traffic.
