I-265

Been off line and out of town. Many thanks for the helpful advice. Concerning the bottlenecks in downtown Louisville... Since I would be approaching from the east on I-71, would it be a good idea to take I-265, the Glenn Snyder Freeway around town toward I-65 south ? Would this avoid the heavy traffic ?

That would be a good plan. Driving closer to downtown, you could use I-264, Waterson Expressway as a shorter route to I-65 south but the traffic would be heavier. I highly recommend not going downtown near the I-65 Ohio river bridge.

Alternately, continue south I-75 to Lexington, then west on US-60 to the Blue Grass Parkway; a diagonal route to I-65 at Elizabethtown.
Hey George! If one comes into Louisville via I71, they don't need to worry about the bridge closing as they aren't going back over the Ohio. In fact they should take the outer loop around the city from 71 to 65 south.

BTW, we may know each other. Do you race?
