Florida highway 60

Anybody ever take FL60 west from I95 to the Tampa area in an RV?

Only as far as Bartow. From there is a quick shot up 98 to the Polk Parkway and on to I4. I would think from Bartow west would be painful with way to many traffic lights

I've done it both ways and the Polk Highway (as above) is the easiest in an RV or any vehicle. Polk Highway is a toll road (Sunpass or cash). When you get to I-4/I-75 you have some variations on getting to Tampa ... none are good.

Ditto above. We're from Lakeland and that's how we'd go - 60 to 98 to Polk Parkway to I-4. If you stay on 60, you'll go thru Brandon & you do not want to go that way in your RV. Tons & tons of traffic.

We just got back from Florida Saturday. We traveled 60 from I-75 to Bartow then south on 17.

During the busy hours as you get close to 75 there is lots of traffic. Once away from 75 I didn't think it that bad.

We do it every once in a while, I have no issues with the road or traffic. Sure, a bit of traffic in Lake Wales and then when you get into Brandon.

No trip on 60 is complete without a stopover in Yeehaw Junction!

I've also bypassed the 98/Polk Parkway(570) and stayed on 60 until I got to County Line Rd. County line Rd runs from 60 to I-4 west of Lakeland.Pulling my tandem axle trailer it saved $5?. in tolls LOL.

I've done it dozens of times. Rt 60 is okay for any type of RV but much of it is 2 lane and no passing, so not particularly fast. Rt 98 at Bartow to the Polk Parkway to I-4 is the fast way to go but has a toll. If you go all the way on Rt. 60, you will save the toll but encounter slow going and many traffic lights.

Yeah, 60 is a great run. Don't know where you are leaving from- but Sebring, Okeechobbe are great too. If you can work in a little 27, 441, 98, 17- you will love them all! That part of the State is "Less Traveled" but, it is real Florida-you will see lots of Big Trucks, 18 wheelers, etc. You can go anywhere they go. Lake Wales is gorgeous-See the Bok Tower & Spook Hill- We love it all.
