Florida State Rd 40

We left St Augustine last week ahead of Matthew and went to the west coast of Florida. Heading back today, and thinking of crossing The Ocala National Forest on 40. Wanting to know if this is doable with a 42 ft motor home with toad. Thanks for any advice.

SR-40 is a good two-lane road east of Silver Springs. I've been through Ocala but don't remember much about it other than my desire to avoid it in the future. I've gone up 58th Ave./CR-35 from Belleview to Silver Springs a couple of times; there was a bit of local traffic but not bad.

If you are going back to St. A, would you please give us a report on the RV parks in the area? Looking to go that way in a couple of weeks. Thanks

Florida SR 40 is a very good two lane road that crosses the state. It is easy to drive with great views of the various terrain of Florida. You can not hurry, so enjoy the journey though Old Florida.

We got back to St Augustine late Monday afternoon. Staying at the KOA in St Augustine Beach while our house is getting built in Davis Shores. Got set up and toured the Davis Shores area, the KOA has very minor damage, some uprooted trees and lost their sign, no flooding at all here. The areas that we looked at yesterday had lots of houses with water intrusion damage, very little structural damage. A lot of trees and fences down.
We are going over to the Vilano Beach area today to check on rental properties. The pictures from that area are devastating. We have friends who snowbird at North Beach so will look in there and report back later today. As we drove by Compass RV Park on State rd 207 it appeared to have no damage with several RVs set up there
We will drive thru downtown St Augustine today and see first hand the damage there, what we have heard so far it is mostly water damage to the buildings there.

Thanks for the replies on state rd 40. Did not go that way but will try to at a later date.
