Fort McHenry Tunnel

Has anyone pulled their TT thru this tunnel going up or down I95?

last time I had to go around and what a horrible ride that added a good hour to my trip.

I did once because I was un-aware of the LP restriction. Vehicles carrying LP in excess of 10 LBS, or 10 containers are restricted, that time cheated and when asked, I had no LP. That was first time rooky luck, by accident. There is a hefty fine if caught.

You can get around this restriction legally by draining your LP tanks before the trip through the tunnel, that's allowed. I got through this way on a trip north and south.

You can find LP on the other end if needed.

I am not so worried about the lp as I will only keep about 10 lbs fir the fridge after i get thru it but more worried about the height. I have a TT which is lower than a fifth wheel or motorhome so if those get thru I should.

The requirements in the Ft. McHenry tunnel are: Height – 15' - 0” Width – 20' - 0” Weight – 75 tons. I usually go clockwise around the Baltimore Beltway when traveling north on I95 with my RV. It's a lot less hassle. And cheaper too.

Tractor trailers go through it all the time as the national standard height for obstacle clearance is 13'6".

As posted before me, the tunnel height is more than that. My fiver was right at 13 feet in height.
