I -15 to Baker to Death Valley exit north end DV to 395 to 58 across the Tehachapi's to 99 up to Fresno. Stay at the bottom of the mountain somewhere and drive up to the redwoods.

I would suggest crossing the river at Laughlin and taking 163 to US95 north to Las Vegas, then I-215 to I-15 south to NV160 and just past Pahrump turn left on to Bell Vista Rd which will take you to Death Valley Junction. A few hundred feet on CA127 and left on to CA190 and into Death Valley. I would not recommend taking CA190 out the west entrance of Death Valley. I would go back out CA190 to CA127 and south to Baker and I-15, then CA58 to Bakersfield and north on CA99 up to the Visalia / Fresno area to camp.
