Gallatin Highway and South

Just curious if anyone has been on the Gallatin highway in Montana with their RV. My wife and I will be heading out west again this spring. Our plan was to stop in Bozeman for a while and take the Gallatin highway South into West Yellowstone then take highway 20 from there South to Ashton, ID then 32 into Jackson, WY. wasn't sure what the roads were like as far as grade and mountain passes. We usually like to take back roads and view different scenery.

From Bozeman, MT, Hwy 191 is a very good road for RVers.

However, I definitely would not recommend taking 33/22 into Jackson. You will encounter a very steep grade on 22 east of Victor.

You could take 33 and pick up 31 which brings you to 26 to Alpine, WY and then north on 89 to Jackson.

Or...you could take Hwy 20 south of Ashton to Idaho Falls and pick up Hwy 26 to Alpine. Hwy 26 is a beautiful, easy drive.

Do NOT take Hwy 22 into Jackson. Have a good trip!

I drive Bozeman to West Yellowstone fairly frequently (my son lives in Bozeman) sometimes with a TT. It is not infrequent for me to see motorhomes on the road. I would recommend using the pullouts when needed. It is a very scenic drive. I also second the recommendation to not get to Jackson from the west but from the south.
