Go Through or Around?

Wife and I are heading to Tx from Tn this week and are going by way of I-59. When we get to Birmingham should we go around by way of I-495 or is it best to stay on I-59 and go through Birmingham? Is this a good run or is it a rough truck run?

Take I-459. It's a good road (probably better than I-59) and the difference in distance is not much. Went that way about a month ago.

I second that. 59 through downtown B'ham was rough and tight last time I went through there, although that has been a while. 459 is the way to go just to avoid downtown.

My 2 cents.
