If that is W on I 84, than by all means take I 205 to I 5 S.

YES! I-5 through downtown Portland is a maze of overpasses with lane changes required in very short distances, to avoid off ramps. 205 is longer but my preferred route.

There are sign's over I-5 in both directions showing the time for each route.

Pick the lowest

Thanks.
What I thought, haven't been in the area for quite a time.

Tried deciding route through Seattle ( I-5 vs I-405 ) by the signage once; I-5 was shown as quicker; got 100 yards past the 405 off ramp and was STOPPED for 45 mins . Traffic flow can change in a heartbeat.

LOL

Us Powell Riverites are lucky that way !!

First time returning from AZ, didn't know about I-205, sign was saying to take it if possible due to a crash on I-5. I didn't, and was in a traffic jam for 4 hours, and still had to find my way around the accident when I got close. Followed the wrong semi . He was as lost as I was !!

Ben, get out and cut your lawn , the sunshine won't last long.

At least we didn't get as much rain as Vancouver did yesterday.

To the OP , not meaning to hi-jack your post , just I'm too lazy to get up and phone Ben , to give him a bad time.

Safe Travels.

205 can be a parking lot also . It really depends on when you are trying to pass through town. 84 to 5 can give a beautiful view of downtown Portland and is clearly marked as to what lane to be in and if you are in the correct one no lane changes are needed. That said taking 205 is actually shorter I believe and since it's my hometown I've seen Portland and would go 205 it's boring with no really good exits for a large rig fuel etc but the direct route to completely south of town

Quite OK, I went and mowed mine while the posts roll in. Over here on the dry side we have lots of sunshine.

To ALL, thanks for the feedback, and chatter.

Going to go to my first FMCA Rally in Albany in June.

We've been to two of the FMCA rallies at Albany. Nice area too, but the airport is right next door so expect some noise from it but not too much.

I don't know how often they update but you can call ODOT and get highway updates. 511 on the cell phone.

205 is best but like any big city, try to time it so you're coming through on Sunday morning or evening and after 7pm any other day. We've always liked Sunday mornings.
