How do you get the amount you owe and how do you pay?

I am the poster referenced above that called the Texas toll road authority. They are the ones who said they are not seeking payment from out-of-state vehicles on EZ-pass toll roads in 2016. If you can't get a straight answer from government, what are you supposed to do?

I read an article in the Houston Chronicle that said out of state have to pay, but it is too costly to go after them to collect the money.

We just drove the Sam Houston Toll road south from the north side of Houston to I-37. There are cash tool lanes the entire way. Only some of the exits are Toll-Tag only.

I have a son who lives in The Woodlands (north of Houston) and I am planning to use the EZ toll roads again when I return from the LA area.

zekegb>> Thanks for the confirmation!

Thanks--I've set my GPS to go that way. Do you know anything about the availability of diesel fuel along that route? Places where I can pull my 40' MH + my truck into?

Thanks again,
DICK

My map shows a Loves' in Vinton LA off I-10 and on US-59 in Cleveland, TX, just north of TX 105. I think I filled up in Conroe somewhere but I was only 36 feet with no toad at the time. I'd hit the Loves' in Cleveland.

You will have no problem. LOTS of diesel trucks on the roads around here.

We looked at service stations at TX 105 & FM 577 in Brenham today; you could get in and out of the outside pumps at the Valero station but I think it would be rather uncomfortable. You'd be pulling across traffic at an intersection in and out.

FWIW, we drove thru Houston on I-10 going west in January and coming back east in March. Drove thru on a Sunday going west and on a Saturday coming back east. It was no issue. I got in the middle lane and hardly ever slowed down. It was certainly a lot better than driving thru Atlanta on a Tuesday late morning.

In truth it makes no difference what route you take - you're going to have lots of traffic on them all.... After all - this is a city of 4M people.... Now time of day and day of the week will make a HUGE difference.... 7-10 and 4-7 are "nightmare" driving times.... Saturday and Sunday will see a drop in traffic and make it a little easier....

610 loop is a toll road but traffic moves pretty good and it goes completely around the city....

Correction--610 loop is free, Beltway 8 is the toll road, and it is bigger and goes outside of 610

Whatever you do STAY OFF 290 right now. We have a house there and had to leave it to the kids until it is finished, can't get anywhere! I-10 has been done for years and is great, goes straight through the city, get off at Buccee's west of Houston for great food, cold drinks, ice, and shopping for Texas souvenirs! I don't believe there's anything on the other side.

610 and the Beltway (8) can both be a pain. The beltway swings out too far to be worth the cost to me, and 610 is a booger nearly all day these days, especially on weekends.
