Good Sam Trip Planner

So I'm trying out the trip planner for S&G's. From what universe are they getting their travel times??

According to them my 716 mile trip should only take 9 hours. That's moving at 80 mph!! I don't even drive that fast in my car, let alone my MH!

Plug the same data (same exact route) into Google Maps and it comes up with 12 hours. That's almost exactly 60 mph (59.66666....).

I just had to that an RV TRIP PLANNING TOOL would calculate such ridiculous times and speeds!

I guess stick with Google is the answer for planning. I usually do that in advance for the broad stokes of getting between point A to point B, but actually use my Rand McNally RV GPS while on the road. It usually is conservative on trip times saying it will take longer, but it updates as the road unwinds.

I have used GS Planner a few times. It, like others, has its pros and cons. In so far as driving time, I don't normally pay any attention to these calcs but rather look at mileage instead. I tend to drive according to road conditions and traffic so time for me is a non issue.
I find my Magellan GPS is more accurate once we are moving as it is bases on actual speed, mileage to destination and recalculates after each stop. Which for us is many. ETA from Maggy is fairly accurate.

GS trip planer not worth much to me either. RV's don't always do well on car routes and at car speeds.

I'm planning to try this one when we leave on our one-year fulltiming trial! It's designed specifically for RV's and shows all the low-clearances, etc.

Home of the Best RV Trip Planner Ever - Give it a try!

Looks interesting, I have it bookmarked for future consideration. Let us know how it works for you.
Are you planning to use it on a Tablet or PC or both?
I have found some of these are not very Tablet Friendly.

This would be used with a laptop. Us old geezers don't have tablets!

What I like about it is that there is nothing stored on your computer. It's all on their servers, and updates are done there continously! It uses Google Maps with their proprietary software and it's fine-tuned for RV use! You can plan as many trips as you want and store them until they are needed. It's $39.95 per year, but if it's as good as it looks I think it will be well worth it!

I like the RV Trip Planner. I played with the demo and it's pretty smooth and all-inclusive! We don't yet travel enough to justify paying for any planning service. Right now I use Google Maps to plot our routes and stops. I found the Good Sam planner is useful to show campgrounds close to the route, which I then enter into my Google Maps route as a stop. I simply send the route to my phone and click GO when I'm behind the driver's seat.

I actually used GS's trip planner a lot up until recently, liked being able to see the parks in proximity of my route...

but lately it's developed some bugs in the software and has become almost unusable.... back to google for planning and Garmin rv760 with lifetime maps and traffic in the rv.

I love the GS route planner. Very easy to select and/or modify the routes I want to take, find RV parks and Pilot/Flying J locations.

Once I have it completed I simply connect my Rand McNally RVND 7720 to the Dock program and it transfer the route on to the device.

We use the Trip Wizard referred to on a tablet and it works well for us. We use for the initial trip planning to gauge how far we will be going, routes & available sites.
Then pick the CGs to be used by other apps and reviews.

We've used the Trip Wizard for a year and a half now. It's not perfect but it is a very good tool to initially plan your trip. It doesn't have some of the campground / rv parks that are out there but the data base is constantly growing. We have submitted campgrounds to them that were not listed and they added them very quickly. As time goes on it should be one of the best planners available

Have you found it to be accurate on low clearances?
