I did a search on this website for GPS info and found a few that used the Rand McNally 77XX series. I just bought a Rand McNally 7715 off of E-Bay. I have, since then, seen some pretty negative reviews on the unit. Does anyone have this GPS, and have you had bad, or good luck with it? Many reviewers say the features that point you to RV camping sites is good, but that the unit had bad features as far as routing for Motor Home travel. I already own both Garmin and Tom Tom GPS units for my cars, but I wanted something that would eliminate routes with low tunnels and other overhead limited clearances. I am new to RV'ing and want to reduce the chance that I will take off the top half of my MH on our cross country trip this summer. Thanks for your assistance.

Sorry, I can't help you with the RM-7715 GPS as I have the Garmin RV760-LMT.

Your previous search on this site didn't quite go far enough as the RV760 has been discussed here frequently.

I think it is one of the best 7 inch GPS devices that you can find for RV use.

I have a 7710 and 7720, specifically for the RV features...like low bridge/tunnel avoidance

The 7715 and 7725 are the same units just with added software.

The biggest issue for me with the 7710 was screen glare. The 7720/5 addressed that.

If you set-up the 7715 with your RV height and turn on the right "avoid" functions, it should work well. BUT, no mapping information is not perfect. That is where issues have come from IMHO.

I have the Rand McNally 7710. I've been using it for three yrs and have no complaint with it. It does everything I wasnt it to do. Inform me of low bridges, steep hills, sharp curves, toll booths etc. Yes there is a glare issue with the 7710. I simply made a shield that goes around the unit out of thin cardboard and tape it on. Problem solved.

I had the 7710 and returned it. With the screen glare I couldn't see the screen during daylight hours.

Personally I don't trust any of the GPS units for planning my route when the 5er is attached. I research my route using the Rand McNally truckers atlas.

Thanks for the responses. I looked at that Garmin 760 LM, but the price was kind of steep for what I wanted it for. I usually use mapping services for planning a route. I don't trust electronics exclusively for anything, although I know they are reliable in aircraft uses (GPS). My main concern was having something for warning me if there is a 10 foot clearance ahead, with my 11 foot motor home. I got the RM 7715 new for $130. If it doesn't get the job done, looks like I will have to spring for the Garmin 768 LM. Thanks for your responses and your time.
