Thumbs down Heads up---Oregon-Wash bridge to avoid

I strongly recommend all large RV's avoid the toll bridge between Hood River, OR (I-84) and White Salmon WA (Hwy 14). The bridge is extremely narrow and metal grated which causes a vehicle to wander. The bridge is 112 inches from the yellow line to a very hard (and scarred) metal guard rail. On my rig that leaves less than 6 inches clearance on each side. Sound like a lot? Wait until you meet a load of logs !! Better options are the interstate bridge at The Dalles OR (20 miles east) or Cascade Locks OR (30 miles west) of Hood River. You can do it, but ...

Been there, done that, went across the bridge at 10 mph. Wasn't so much the metal grate as it was the wind shoving me sideways with little wiggle room.

If you're going east, the best crossing is the Biggs Junction Bridge. Its more than large enough to handle full sized trucks and loads.

Been there also! If I'd known about it I certainly wouldn't have done it! Not a fun white knuckle 4000 ft drive. Then a semi and a travel trailer comes along. Hope I still have my driver's side mirror after I meet them. I'm using the white center line to guide on and then it disappears in the middle of the bridge. Oh for joy! And to add insult to the scary drive I had to pay a toll on the Oregon side.
