The only high bridge I know of is in Cincinnati,

I suspect you can hang a right a bit farther south and avoid it and save some miles but.. .. let me look.. Yes, looking at eastern half of US with Streets and Trips I see several alternate routes, all shorter, all of which avoid Ohio completely. Looks like best route is up 95 to just north of Savannah, then you need to make a choice, straight or left.

Johnny, if you really want to enjoy a high bridge crossing, get off I-81 onto US19 north to Fayetteville, WV where it crosses the New River Gorge (900 ft above the river), Each Oct they have an official "Bridge Day" and you can BASE jump off the bridge, or repel or zip line down to the rivers edge.
not to be missed

Forgive me, I'm from up here in Cannuckistan, but doesn't 81 intersect with 75 in Knoxville? Some 250 miles south of Cinncinati?

I81's southern terminus is into I40 east of Knoxville and I40 joins I75 in Knoxville. I40/I75 run concurrently to just west of Knoxville where they again split into I40 west and I75 south.

Hi Jonnypip,
The route you mention is the same route I have used many times. There are no large high bridges. The largest bridge you will encounter is the one in Harrisburg, PA crossing the Susquehanna River. There is a short bridge at the state line between Maryland and West Virginia. One could say it is high, but it us quite short. Another bridge is around Radford in Southwestern Virginia. Again, it could be considered high, but it is short. These have never been a problem.

I-26 will take you from I-95 in SC to I-81 in upper east TN. Avoids Atlanta, Chattanooga & Knoxville.
