Highway 29 between St. Joseph and Omaha open?

Before the flooding, Google maps has given me routes that use this road.
Since the flooding, Google maps has given me routes that avoid it.

Today Google maps routes me over this part of 29 again, but has many “road closed” alerts showing. I don’t get it.

Need to make a decision on the final route in 10 days.

The latest report I read stated they (MO, NE) were working to get both lanes open by Memorial weekend.

Must be MO and IA. No I-29 in NE.

Looks like I will have to find an alternate route, I'll be passing there a few days before Memorial day.

Have you driven this section yet? We will be coming through there on May 25th and I was wondering if all lanes are open. Also, does the road surface show any damage from the flooding?

Thanks!
Ben

Ben.
Nope, not yet.
I don't expect to get that far until about the 20th or 21st.

Thanks and if you have time please post your experience traveling through there. We'd planned an alternate route but I-29 will be faster if it's ok.

through the area 2 weeks ago

I was in the same position as you 2 weeks ago and used route 75 north out of Topeka. Good quality road although only 2 lanes for most of the time I was on it.

Good luck !

Drove 29 North from Kansas City this morning. Stopped in Onawa, Ia. for the night.
29 is goo d to here, will finish in Sioux Falls tomorrow.
Some places on 29 the water is up to the breakdown lane, so if there is any more rain, I expect the road to flood.
So check before you use 29, anything can happen. Storms forecast for tonight and tomorrow
