Do NOT take VA 43 from Bedford to Buchanan in SW VA. After you get to the top the sign says "Not recommended for RV or Trailer" and they are not kidding. This highway is one way of getting up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is about 25 miles NE of Roanoak

I've had our MH over three 12000 passes on CO, and never encountered anything as steep! The pull up from the east is 11 miles, and I never got below 4,400 RPM at 25 MPH. If my odometer is correct, I burned almost 15 gal. of gas over 23 miles.

It is steep, narrow and very windy. There is NO warning on the east entrance of this highway!!
