Dear Friends, do we have an update on the By-Pass and Bridge Construction. I "hear" that Trucks, Trailers and RV's can not use Hoover dam. The snowbird season is coming soon??!!

RVgreetings
TW

The Vegas newspapers advise that the bypass is scheduled to open in late 2010. 18 wheelers may not use the Hoover Dam roadway however motorhomes, trailers and rental trucks after inspection may use it. We crossed in June '09 (40' motorhome) and I'm sure some of our members have more recent experience.

I was able to cross in 2006, Have not been back since

There is an "pre-existing" bypass route, takes you through Needles CA as I recall. I have gone that way too.. Taking a 37' MH with towed over the narrow twisting road that crosses the dam.... Not for the faint of heart or the acrophobic.

I'm the latter

Hi TW,
We were there in July. Based on what I saw, 2010 is a dream. The middle sections of the bridge are not even in place yet. Got the coach and toad over the dam on just a wave through. I was lucky, they were backed up on the inspection turn out. I don't think there is an easy way to get through the area. I'll take the dam route over going through Laughlin. The pull out of that town, going either way is really hard on the coach. While the dam route is crooked and a pull, the traffic is very slow to begin with so a coach is not holding up any traffic.
