Motorists traveling from Arizona to Las Vegas on U.S. 93 will be faced with a detour Monday night.

U.S. 93 will be closed at Hoover Dam from 7 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday for work associated with construction of the new Hoover Dam bypass bridge.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says northbound U.S. 93 traffic will be diverted in Kingman to State Route 68 through Bullhead City from 5 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says motorists can then use Nevada Route 163, then U.S. 95 to reach Las Vegas.

When do they plan on opening the Hoover Dam bypass? I am planning a trip from Williams to Las Vegas in June 08 and were planning on going over the Hoover Dam in a 38 ft motorhome towing a car. Once the bypass opens will they still allow folks over the dam?

Don't think it will be an issue next June.

The new highline system is currently being designed and is being fabricated for delivery beginning in August. It will be operational in late 2007. While constructing a new highline system is critical to the efficient completion of this project, it has resulted in a revision of the overall schedule with completion of the bridge in mid-2010 and the opening of the Bypass in late 2010.

It looks like they close 93 on a pretty regular basis. In late September we encountered a closure. There was a lighted warning sign prior to the exit thankfully.
