How is Rt 86 by the Salton Sea

I am planning to leave El Centro NAS and head past Palm Springs to Hemet, CA. Just wondering if Rt. 86 is a good route to take.

Thanks!

Rt 86 is an divided 4 lane in excellent shape once you get north of Brawley. Early in the morning you will be traveling with many produce and hay trucks but it's an easy drive. There is a 86/86S split after you get to Riverside County. Stay straight ahead on 86S (86Spur) if you wish to stay on the divided 4 lane and it will eventually merge into I-10 westbound.

Thanks for your service. Drive safe and have fun.

Its a good road just watch for the winds around the Palm Springs area. Some days there is some pretty good cross winds. I used to drive it all the time going from Yuma north.
