Hwy 128 out of Calistoga, CA

Anyone traveled Hwy 128 out of Calistoga, CA over to Hwy 101. Need to get from the Napa wine country to 101N but hoping to avoid going the long way via back to I80 through Vallejo. Thanks....

Hi, I live in Vallejo. I'm familiar with all of that. There is a nice way to go. Coming from Yountville down into Napa, turn right onto 29 towards Sonoma, then left onto 121 towards 37 and take a right on 37 towards San Francisco and 101N.

Note: 29 is Sonoma Hwy and at the split, after turning onto 29, stay left onto 12. There are some backroad routes, but this is pretty decent roadway. You should do a Winery stop, but that would mean a stop on the left before the y left to 12 and instead a right up to the Sonoma Wineries. I would not miss that unless you are on a deadline.

Thanks Roger...but really wanting to see if 128 north out of Calistoga is ok for a 34' with toad as I am wanting top head up to Cloverdale. Very familiar with 37 to 101...but have never taken 128 North and we will be staying at a park in Calistoga. Hope you assist with the 128 question. Thanks

While I haven't been on that route for many years, you should have no problems between Calistoga and Alexander Valley road where you can cut over to 101N instead of going all the way to Geyserville on 128. Just don't take the Petrified Forest road from 128 to Santa Rosa.
