The Rand McNally truckers road atlas indicates it is not approved for large trucks, and you most likely fit that category. You may read everything yourself if you have this atlas. It has bridge weight restrictions, height restrictions, length restrictions for crooked roads, etc.
If you have an RV-specific GPS unit it will not display any route that does not match your height, weight, and length designations you enter.

191 north from Holbrook is an excellent highway for RVers. We had our 40' MH on it often as do many, many other RVers. Make a stop at Canyon de Chelly Nat'l Monument on the way - beautiful.

No need to go all the way back to Flagstaff!!!

The section of 191 that is not recommended for trucks and RV's is south from Springerville to Morenci. It is known as the Devil's Highway (Old Rte# 666) and is a great motorcycle road, but nothing over 35' is allowed south of Alpine. There are over 1100 curves in the 120 miles, some of them tight switchbacks.

The Motor Carrier Atlas lists a low clearance of 12.5 feet at mile 169.9 on US-191. This is listed as the Morenci tunnel.

I've been on 191 from Chambers (I-40) to I-70 in my 40'er and had no issues. I wouldn't hesitate to travel it in my current set up. I agree with twogypsies, Canyon De Chelley is a great place to visit if you have time. Be sure and hire a local guide and tour the canyon floor.

We made the trip just fine.. we came down 191 from Moab to Monticello, Utah. Headed south on 491 all the way to I40.. there was some construction on the way but all in all it was a good road.. We stayed at Sky City Casino RV Park On I 40 for $19.60 with full hookup. They have cable but the wifi was all but no existant.
