Those two sections of road can't be compared next to each other. They are very different. Hwy 50 you're getting into the High Sierras so it's going to be steeper.
We've driven Hwy 50 many times with our 40' motorhome with no issues. There aren't many places to pull over on the steep parts. It's a popular route with RVers and I'd avoid the weekends for driving it.
We've only driven Hwy 20 to Fort Bragg in our vehicle, mainly because we didn't want to drive on Hwy 1 with the motorhome. We just did a day trip in our car. It is very curvy but not necessarily steep.
We have driven Hwy 20 from Clear Lake to I-5 with our motorhome with no issues - curvy in sections but not steep.
