Hwy 281 in Falfurris tx

Has anyone traveled Hwy 281 in Falfurris, tx lately. At the intersection of FM 285 and US 281 there was a lot of construction last year. I was wondering if it has cleared up or is it still a mess. We use these roads to save a little mileage going to McAllen, Tx in the winter. Any response would be appreciated.

Yes that area is still under construction. We came thru the second week in Oct and had to follow a detour through town pulling a toad ! We live in Weslaco so either go that way or 77

Thanks for the info. We will probably go 77 since we have a new coach and I am a lot longer now.

Send a message via Skype™ to Falcon35
We are coming down that way early January. Is the construction for a long way or just a few miles?

Well we went through Falfurish on our way to the Valley. That was a mistake as we spent over 30 minutes at the intersection of Fm185 &US 281. It could have been the time of day with all the traffic but it was stoll a long time. After making the turn we observed that the north bound was having a difficult time turning on to Fm185. The 18 wheelers were having to cut through the Valero station to make the turn from 281 to 185. So just a word of caution about this intersection.
