HWY 40 through the mountains from Utah to Denver? Is this a friendly road?

We have enjoyed the drive many times in the Coach - usually from Park City to Golden - I love Berthoud Pass (option if it's not fot you is to take Rt 9 out of Kremling to I-70) and Rabbit Ears is for the most part gentle Yampa SP - Stage Coach SP - Steamboat Lake SP - are all worth the effort to visit and stay a night. you could easily do Trail Ridge to Estes - with Grand Lake as a Great Stop.
So your asking if it is friendly, IMHO it Awesome.
Just a lot to see once you get into the Mountains - I love it!!
Hope this is of some help,

It also goes pretty close to Dinosaur National Monument which, IMHO, is worth a visit if you are interested in that sort of thing. You can (could?), it's been several years since our last visit, see the excavation of a dinosaur and a number of other dinosaur related information/objects. IMO, a very nice drive.
Hope you enjoy it.

I had a thought that you may be considering driving it now. It could be very unfriendly during winter, depending on weather.
Very nice during summer though.

We are talking next summer. Is Dinosaur a driving tour?

Berthoud Pass tops out around 11,000 feet, and is a winding road with several switchbacks, but nothing that the typical RV cant handle. I wouldn't hesitate to tow my TT over the pass. The rest is a cakewalk. It can get nasty in winter, but in summer it should be no problem.
As far as Dinosaur, I've kayaked the Green River through the park, but never been to any of the visitor centers. You can get in at Dinosaur National Monument, and there is a good map on that site. It looks like several of the interior roads are only for high clearance vehicles, although both the Canyon and Quarry visitor centers and the Island Park overlook are easily accessible. You will also see a road into Gates of Lodore on the north end, but that is mostly used as access to the put-in point for rafting and kayaking. Probably not the best idea for sightseeing.

Most RVs can make it fine IMO.
