Hi,

I would take from Atlanta, I-575N, Route 76/515N towards Blairsville. Go thru Blairsville to Young Harris and Hiawassee. In Hiawassee I would take Route 69N to Rt 64E and make left onto Route 64E to Franklin, NC then take route 23N to Route 74E and then to I-40E to Asheville.

As an alternate in Hiawasse I would take Route 175N to Route 64 W then to Franklin.

That way there are no surprises and no drop offs to worry about.

Enjoy your trip!

Does that mean that this stretch ( Go thru Blairsville to Young Harris and Hiawassee. In Hiawassee I would take Route 69N to Rt 64E and make left onto Route 64E to Franklin has drop-offs or lots of curves? That's what we want to avoid.

There are no drop offs either way. The Rt 175 does have a few more curves and a bridge you have to go over.

The only place that I have traveled that has a lot of drop offs is Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park with no guard rails.

Enjoy your trip and either way is good.
