We occasionally drive Highway 9 between I-70 and I-74 and, while a typical 2 lane highway, its fine for our 29 ft. motorhome towing a car trailer. There are a few curvy parts where the road crosses a creek or stream but no tight corners. We use route 9 as a scenic route to get to a Cracker Barrel at the intersection with I-74.

One could reasonably assume the more north and southern parts you are considering could be the same as our experience. The alternative is the interstate route around the east side of Indianapolis.
