I-10 at San Antonio, Tx.

We plan to take I-10 through San Antonio, Tx. this Saturday morning. Locals at our campground advise to go around not through the city. We have been advised to take Hwy. 1604 around the north end of San Antonio. But on the local news there have been reports for the last two days about the traffic jams on 1604. Can anyone offer recent local advice on traveling through San Antonio on I-10 from the west to the east ? We are traveling in a 40' DP with a towd.

Do NOT take 1604 around the North side of the city. There is major construction at the intersection of Loop 1604 and US Hwy 281 (building an interchange) and major traffic tie ups can be expected.

On a Saturday morning you should have no issues taking I-10 through town.

We went through San Antonio east to west the day before yesterday. We took I-410 around the city to the north and rejoined I-10. Good freeway all the way.
