I've driven I-10 between Texas and Alabama several times. In a car it is tolerable, pulling a 5th wheel is miserable. I swore off I-10 in 2003.

I have read posts in other places on this forum saying that some of the sections have been improved but everyone seemed to say that the Louisiana piece was still rough.

Maybe someone with recent experience will jump in and enlighten us.

We have ran I-10 from Houston to Mobile 3 times in the past 3 months. East bound is the roughest between Lake Charles and Laffayette for about 30 miles. There is construction from Lafayette to Houston on both sides. The West bound lane is almost resurfaced completely. The lane shifts are easy enough if you watch for them. It is tight going West bound into Beaumont at places. I will be headed back East bound on the 28th. Don't forget the John Stennis recreation rest area. Although it says no overnight there are 8 or RV spots as you go on through the trucks and go like you are headed out. The spots pull off of the road and have their own water and picnic tables. We spend the night there and also at the Atchafaly (mspelled) bridge rest area. The road does not deter us. check my wife's blog about on the John Stennis.
