Glad this subject is written here. My wife and I will be making the same trip starting on the 15th of March. The only difference is we are headed to Biloxi, Ms for a week stay and then on to Central NY for the summer.

We are leaving from Mesa, AZ and it looks as if Fort Stockton is the halfway point between Demming and San Antonio where we want to stay for 3 days looking around. As I understand it the Fort Stockton RV park is the place to stay and avoid the others. Is this correct?

Okay, here's how it's gone so far:

Casa Grande to Deming, NM 284 mi - Didn't make it that far the first day, instead stopped at Lordsburg, NM the first night. Back just couldn't take the drive. Stayed at the KOA there, just okay for an overnight.

Deming to Van Horn, TX 222 mi - Stopped instead at Ft. Bliss Family Camp in El Paso, Stayed a week to avoid higher winds than I wanted to drive. Nice place.

Van Horn, TX to Fort Stockton, TX 120 mi - Did stay in Fort Stockton at the Ft. Stockton RV Park, great little Cafe there, great catfish, Yum!

Fort Stockton, TX to Junction, TX 198 mi - Stayed at the sister site here, Not bad.

Junction, TX to Schulenburg, TX 216 mi - Made it instead to Luling, TX. Spent the weekend at the Riverbend RV Park. Not bad.

Schulenburg, TX to Highlands, TX 116, or to Lake Charles, LA 237 mi - Instead, stopped at Baytown, TX. Currently at Houston East RV Park. Nothing to brag about, lots of long term campers, says it's an adult RV park but has lots of rug rats around and young men with LOUD remote controlled dune buggies. Will be here until Friday when the wind will be less to continue the final leg of trip. Have decided on the Frog City RV park in Duson, LA for an extended stay. Will be attending the Cajun RV Fest in Rayne for the 8 - 12 April time frame.

So far the roads haven't been too bad, some road work and driving thru Houston wasn't near as bad as driving thru Salt Lake City.

Thanks for all the help and advice.

[QUOTE The one to avoid is Parkview Mobile Home and RV Park. This reviewer summed it up nicely; "This is a slap your neck red and put in a plug of chew type park....."

Ditto that experience!! Been there.... done that. Unfortunately!
