I-20 through Shreveport

It has been a couple years since we drove our class A on I-20 through Shreveport. I swore I would never use that section of road again as it almost shook us apart, however, we will need to repeat that route in a few weeks.

Have they made any improvements to the road surface? Here's hoping.

We dove it a week ago, much better than I10 and it didnít seem so rough to us. Birmingham is the worst stretch. I10 shook things off the walls. Texas to GSMNP

Take the loop. 20 is still terrible through town.

Man that stretch has been bad since I worked in Shreveport for a few moths back in the early 90's. Especially near the Red River.

Thanks guys. I think i will try the 220 loop. It is a longer way around, but maybe I won't have to replace drawer latches and cabinet hinges when I get to Texas.

Your looking at maybe 1-2 minutes longer. That is what my google maps recalculated when I took the loop.

I have done the obstacle course
once I learned that we would leave the ground in a couple of bridge interfaces, I slowed down and it was fine... the 3132 south from I-20 to I-49 is almost as bad !

You would think Shreveport had the frost heaves Alaska does

Wow, i ve been on some rough roads and through some big towns, and I think you are giving Shreveport way too much of an issue. Do Birmingham, Atlanta, Knoxville, Nashville, Charlotte I95, I10 I40, then hit those long interstates north and west. The bypass was a piece of cake.

I have been through all those towns and I still give Shreveport a ďFĒ rating for the roads inside the city limit. The bypass is not too bad, it is 20 that is an axle breaker.

I have to agree with Jake21. I to have been through all those towns and driven all of those interstates and think that Shreveport gets the award for the worst section of road I have ever traveled.

ND and the northern tier of SD takes the award on their bad secondary roads, but I can explain that away by their rough winters. Can't give that excuse to LA. We will try the bypass as others here have suggested and hope for a better route. Sure can't be much worse.

The bypass isnít too bad. Still have the expansion gaps in the pavement but no the huge swells like 20 has.
