I live on one side of the e470 "loop" and work on the other .... My rig towing my truck is $45 from I25 to I25... I did that once now I will just take I25 which on its worst day is nothing like the 5 or the 405 in SoCal... Where I grow up.

All of that said don't drive it for the next 36 hours.

West route around downtown Denver

I have avoided dowtown Denver and the tolls using the following route around the west side of Denver ...

southbound

leave I-25
Southwest I-76
West I-70
South CO 470 (non-toll)
rejoin I-25

South:

I25 to 70 E to 225 S to I25 would be much more direct and still fully avoid the downtown traffic fun.

If timing and miles are not an issue I definitely would use the bypass, huge open lanes and no clogged, congested I-25. 470 is the way to go.

We made it around E470. From the traffic on I-25 north of Denver there is no way I wanted to go thru the center.

Posted too quick. E470 was painless, very light traffic and only 12 miles farther. Well worth what ever the toll is, to me at least.

A couple of you said you hadn't gotten E470 tolls months after traveling it. We drove it the end of April pulling our toad and got the bill today. $57.30. I would gladly pay that to not drive through the center of Denver.

Dang that sounds like a pretty high toll.

How long is the road you had to pay the toll for?

Shows to be 47 miles long. I don't know if they hit me with 4 axles or 2 vehicles. It is reduced by $13 with a toll tag which I didn't have then but do now.

When we go through Denver we usually go on Sunday morning. Less traffic! No toll! But at other times Denver is a nightmare all the way north to Loveland.

Skigramp gave the best route to avoid downtown I-25.Use c-470 to I70/I76 all the time.
