Interstate 40 through Knoxville, TN will be closed for the next 14 months. I-640 around the city has been modified to carry 3 lanes of traffic its entire length. Traffic is heavy through the area so plan your trip accordingly.

Thanks for the heads-up. We are tentatively planning to be in the Knoxville area for a while this fall on our way to Florida for the winter. We probably won't be going into Knoxville that much, but we'll have to investigate some alternate routes.

We were thru there this week, there was lots of traffic but the bypass worked great.
