I-70 tunnels from Utah to Denver, CO.

I show 6 tunnel warnings on my route leaving Utah going towards Denver, however this is an interstate highway. The warnings do not tell me the height restrictions. Am I safe to assume that the tunnels are at least big enough for an 11'6" motor home? I believe 18 wheelers travel I-70. Also would like to know if my sunseeker gts towing a Camry on a dolly will present any issues with up/down grades or winding roads? I appreciate any replies. I have never travelled this route and also never towed with an rv.

You will be fine with the tunnels. Longest is the Eisenhower with a height of over 13 1/2'.
You will have some curves through Glenwood Canyon, but nothing severe. You will have two major climbs: Vail Pass between Vail and Cooper Mountain, and the climb from Silverthorne to the West Entrance to the Eisenhower Tunnel. Both of these climbs have equal declines that you will want to be prepared for especially of you have never towed with your RV. You will have a third downhill on the final approach into Denver. This one can be deceiving and seems to go for a long time. Just go slow under control and you will be fine

US interstate highway standards require 16 feet rural and 14 feet urban minimum clearances.

Been through there with a coach more than a foot taller than you (and plan to do it again this summer). No worries.

Rockymtnride is correct in his information. I have driven the I-70 leg from Grand junction to Denver in a car, motorhome with toad, and pickup with a trailer. Never a problem.

You will have no problem - we drove it all with 12ft 10in height last year. I found the Glen Canyon area one of the most beautiful highways we have ever been thru. jmo mark

Since you said you have not towed much, I strongly recommend that you go down even slower than you go up and that you down shift appropriately. If you have any braking assist be prepared to use it.

Beautiful drive from Glenwood Springs into Denver. 4 lane interstate all the way.

Drive save and enjoy the trip.

Remember the rule desending a mountain, use the same gear going down that you used going up
Make sure you have axillerary brakes on the tow dolly or the car.

Thanks for all the responses

I have tow/haul on my tranny and hydraulic surge disc brakes on the dolly. I will be extra careful coming down grade in the slow lane.
