I have a 4000 lb Amerilite towed with a 97 F150 4.6. Considering a trip to Myrtle Beach but a little concerned steep grades on I77 S at WV state line.

I have an expedition with the 5.4 and towed an 8000 lb TT over that without any problems. In fact, it maintained my cruise control setting of 55 all the way up that hill. You are half that weight and I don't see a problem with it.

I pulled our 30' approx 8000lb camper down 77 to Myrtle from Charleston WV this past June. Did it in my Ram 2500 CTD and had no problems. I would think you would experience no problems on that route with your setup. Just make sure your truck is in good condition, just like you would before any trip. Hope you enjoy your trip and have fun at the beach!

I-77 in WV is a good drive, done it before. Don't fret about the grades, you'll do fine.

We just came down that same route a couple weeks ago. Find something else to worry about.
