Just saw I 84 closed east and west from Troutdale to Hood River due to wildfires and rock slides ! OMG

Seems like the whole state of Oregon is on fire. Fires to the East of us, Fires to the South and South West. Hot and smokey with no relief in site. Ash is falling in Portland and covering the cars.

I-84 is also closed in Utah with a Fire in the Weber Canyon. Local news (KSL.com) has some incoherent info, but I expect I-84 is closed in Utah both directions from the I-15 Junction east to Exit 96 at Enterprise. I'd guess the closure will last at least till 1800 local.

Sections of Highway 97 here in BC have been closed on and off for over a month over 110 wildfires burning .

Beginning to question any and all of may usual routes south to my snowbird destination , and what the temperatures may be like there , unless there is a major cool down , with a lot of rain , we may be looking at delaying departure.

DW. Says the fire in the Hood River area caused by fireworks , seems like way too many people don't understand the fire danger.

BC has been closed to camp fires ( all fires for that matter ) for a month and still people camping with fires UNATTENDED and getting a $1,000 fine. Throwing out a cigarette gets you a $575 fine.
One { self edit } after being evacuated for three weeks , decided to celebrate being allowed home by setting off fireworks ,

$1000 fine , personally I think they should have sent him out to fight fires , until the snow flies , and for a lot of the fires currently burning , it's going to take a lot of snow to put them out.

Just viewed posts on FB Multnomah Falls is ablaze , Glacier Park historic Sperry Chateau is burnt to the ground and Glacier Lodge is being threatened. I am devastated .

Fire jumped the Columbia River at The Bridge of The Gods. Hwy 14 in WA is closed to truck traffic east bound, about 2,000 acres burned in WA.

Westbound is open to all traffic but will be still subject to closures as DOT determines. Eastbound still closed for several more days to finish clearing rock and trees.

HWY 14 is closed to ALL commercial truck traffic.

The local fish wrapper is reporting that I-84 eastbound may be open Sunday night. ODOT is saying that there is one section that will be one lane in each direction while final cleanup is completed.
