I-85 or I-285 Thru Atlanta

Which route do you think is best and what time of day?

I-85 after 10:30 AM will still have what I consider to be heavy traffic. But at least most of the rush hour traffic is over.

Either one, I like 285 the best, stays out of downtown. Arrive on 285 after 10AM and before 3pm will be your best bet, unless you want to go at night if so, after 730pm and before 530 AM. Hope this helps
you out. However if you wish to go 85 the same times apply. Also may be constrction in the downtown area on weekends on 85. Like I said, 285 is best anytime getting around Hotlanta.

I lived in the Atlanta area from 2003-2011. What the folks before me said is great info. The only thing I would add is make sure that any fuel stops you make before or after hitting the 285. There have been problems in some instances of folks getting in trouble just off the freeways inside the perimeter (I285).
