I-85 south to I-285 west to I-20 west near Atlanta

Will this detour around Atlanta miss the major traffic headache everyone is talking about? My trip has me going this route on my way to the left coast. I can modify this if required. Looks like it heads west prior to getting too close to Atlanta.

dont' know what you're referring to, I85 just N of town has already been repaired.

and, I285 is just as 'bad', if you want to use that term, as going directly thru downtown I75/85... just because it's called the 'Perimeter', or some say 'bypass', does NOT mean you are bypassing traffic, plus it will put you right at the new Braves Stadium, which is where ALL the traffic will be if it's anywhere close to game time. Not good.

If you come in on I85 South, I would stay on it until you reach I20 West, near downtown...

but both are bad before 9am, and after 3pm, period. plan your route by time, not by the route.
